Technology
I grew up with a home and schools that always had computers and computer training, so I am fortunate to consider myself a digital native and as someone who is comfortable using technology. While I do not consider myself a tech expert, I have a fair degree of proficiency. As technology continues to change and evolve, I look forward to adapting and using technology well to benefit my life personally and professionally and the lives of library users.
I am familiar with the following hardware: PCs, printers, scanners, photocopiers, microfilm and fiche readers, and mobile devices. I can transfer my knowledge of how these hardware devices work to patrons who need help operating equipment.
I am familiar with the following software and web-based programs: Microsoft Office 2007 (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), Google Docs, Millennium ILS, social media (blogs, online chat, social networking) HTML, and JavaScript. A working knowledge will help me harness the information aspects of technology to provide excellent service to library users.
